The skirt that's so simple it's brilliant. I sometimes find skirts too fussy for my taste, so I created the most pared-down version of this garment–nothing less and nothing more than exactly what was needed. It has enough length to show some leg but also provides modest coverage, a generous hem to add luxe weight and body to the fabric, and just enough gathering to add fullness and movement at the hip but not become bulky at the waist.
Wear this at home in the fall with a soft wool sweater and socks (my fave). Swap the socks for heels and head to dinner! In the summer, this is a go-to with a cropped tank and sneakers or sandals.

I have been wearing my Bel Skirt in Midweight linen all day. I had been afraid to wear it because it looked so liturgical in midnight navy. Why el did I wait, it can
Be anything I want it to be. The waist band is amazing. It’s wide and not likely to curl. I am going to create my future wardrobe around this, and the cool
Oversized linen coat- it’s very Matrix,
If so, then the Bel skirt certainly has. I could kick myself (easily, because it has plenty of room for leg movement) that I waited so long to try this skirt. It feels so good on that I'm having trouble wearing anything else. The length is perfect, the pockets are perfect (I can finally carry my phone around with ease, and it doesn't bulge out), the flax color goes with everything, and it looks fab with my beloved Linn tops and Reece sweater. My only sorrow is that the other colors are sold out in my size. A very sincere thank you for what has immediately become a core item in my wardrobe!
Beautiful and dreamy skirt. It's lovely with just about any kind of top or shoes. I am 5'4" and had mine hemmed just a little bit - it was simple and quick for the tailor. Love it!!!
The price had stopped me for years on this skirt. I finally took the plunge and so glad I did . The fabric is a luxury, it is just gorgeous. The skirt is very wearable for many occasions. I am 5’7” and it hits me just below my calf so it is a lot of skirt. Thank you for such a high quality item, it was worth the investment .
I wear this skirt a few times a week or more and am not sick of it yet. It’s soft but sturdy and goes with so many tops and shoe combinations. Lovvve.

I have been really loving this skirt I always say when I buy clothes I have to be able to go down the slide in it and out for dinner in it and this works great!
I love this skirt. I have very minimalist style tops that I wear to both work and out and about and I was very surprised by how good this skirt looks with them. The waist band is super wide and very comfortable and very nicely sits at my natural waist. Love the pockets too!!! I am 5’3, 33” natural waist and about 155 lbs and the large fits me perfect. I am a mama of a two year old active toddler and very much appreciate how buttery soft the skirt is on my body. If I am going to wear a skirt, it’s going to be this skirt because it keeps to a very modern look. I prefer to pair tunic tops with skirts but layered the skirt over my shirt for a better waist photo. Might have to get myself one in flax now too.
I've waited a long time to purchase one of these skirts and I was so excited to be able to buy one again. It's just perfect for me- not tight in the hips/butt but not a super full twirly/retro shape.

I really liked this skirt, I tried it in both XL. And 1XL and both fit fine, I would probably go with the smaller size. Love the quality linen, roomy fit and deep pockets. I returned the skirts because after trying them on I realized I might not get enough wear out of them to justify the price, but for someone who wears skirts a lot, this skirt is the bomb!!!
Lots of positives for this skirt. The length (XXS-S) is perfect for me at 5’1”, and I love the movement of it. The linen is incredible: both strong and soft and I can imagine it’ll become dreamy over time. I didn’t end up keeping the skirt because, at an XXS, it was a little bulky on my frame.
Love Elizabeth Suzann. Love the flax color. Love the skirt.
Well made, beautiful linen.
Absolutely love this skirt. Looks so pulled together with a black turtleneck and is beyond comfortable. Could wear it every day (and sometimes do)!
I admired this skirt for so long & im so glad I finally ordered!!
I feel like this skirt fits a tad large, I wish I would have ordered a size down. Also, I so wish this skirt had pockets.
It’s so close to perfect though!
This was my first piece from EZ, and I bought it for a trip to Chicago that was in the 80s. Thought it would be good for walking around in the heat. Great length, nice quality linen, and well made. A little loose in the waist.
This skirt is the most perfect length and extremely versatile.
This skirt is beautifully structured and feels like excellent quality. Love everything about it.
I possibly should have sized down as it does feel like a lot of fabric, but as it was one of my first purchases I wanted to err on the side of caution. Pants In the same size are perfect though, so maybe this is the intended fit.
I wear the black silk version several times a week, and thought a linen would be good for a change. The same size in linen was a bit bigger in the waist. My measurements put me between S and M. The olive color and the voluminousness of the skirt didn’t quite fit my style. Might try it again in black, for cooler weather.
I bought one size smaller than usual and was so happy. I was concerned about the volume of fabric, but the smaller size still had movement with just a little less gathers. Love it! I'm a customer forever.
It's folds are so graceful and flattering without being too like dirndl skirts of old. I have no problems walking and I have a long stride.
I ordered this skirt in the spring as a replacement for the Florence pants (which were just a smidge too short in the rise). I figured that the skirt would have a similar size and feel without the length-of-torso-and-width-of-bum issues. Boy, was I right. This skirt saved my life in May, when I had no summer clothes to speak of and a heat wave blasted Nashville. I wore it with slim-fitting tops tucked in, with t-shirts knotted. I wore it in the garden and at a convention. I love this thing. Just received a navy one today. :)
Loved everything I got!
This skirt is currently my favorite item in my closet and has been a great skirt to pair with sweaters as the weather cools. The linen is so beautiful-- far better quality than any other linen clothing I have ever purchased. Crisp enough to feel cool in hot weather but heavy enough to feel substantial when it's chilly. I was worried that the gathered waistline would be too bulky around my small frame, but this is not the case. I had the skirt shortened to hit me just above mid-calf and found this to be a perfect length.
I love the way this skirt falls and find it really flattering. However, I find it way too long for me, and I ordered the short length (and am 5'6). I still needed to take it in at a tailor to get my desired length. Now that it's a length I am happy with I wear it all the time and it will be my go-to summer skirt for sure! As with all my ES pieces the quality is impeccable.
Looks and feels incredibly special although its very simple. Amazing craftsmanship allows this perfect fit and effortless look.
Is amazing! I wear it all the time and it always looks great. Comfortable and classy.
The Bel skirt hits a perfect sweet spot between intentional and relaxed, and I wear it several times a week. I do find the cut of mine a little narrow, but the new release has adjusted for that. (I also hemmed mine, but this was before variable lengths were offered.)
I purchased the XS in flax last summer and thought it was just such a pretty skirt. Sadly, it didn't work for me and I sent it back. The skirt restricted my stride quite a bit and was very voluminous throughout the hip. I have since ordered a Bel Skirt in silk the new Gen 4 in the XXS and it fits perfectly! I thought I would try this skirt again in the new iteration (I so love my Gen 4 Bel skirt in silk--the stride issue was adjusted too). I'm sure this will be on heavy rotation this summer.
I tried this piece, but in the end it just didn't work for me. The fabric is beautiful, a substantial linen. I tried the ivory color. Really nice quality and the fabric hangs beautifully. I have a small high waist and much wider hips (pear-shaped) and this piece just made my hips look too big. The skirt has tons of fabric which makes it extra billowy, which is probably beautiful on someone with different proportions (ie-narrower hips or smaller waist to hip ratio). I really wanted to love this piece; it would make the perfect summer skirt. Maybe sizing down would help, but I still think it's just my proportions that aren't right for this type of garment.
But ultimately too long on me. I got this in navy linen and loved the weight and heft of the fabric but it came down to my ankles! And at 5'4", it made me look way too matronly. But if you're on the shorter side and looking for a midi skirt, this is a great option as the fabric is gorgeous. They style makes it very versatile.
