The Clyde Jumpsuit is a great all-purpose jumpsuit with large, crescent-shaped pockets spanning the side of the jumpsuit leg. Unique, three-panel design results in vertical seams along the center front and back of each leg in addition to the inseam, allowing for limitless fit adjustments and style changes. Use this classic, building-block jumpsuit as a jumping-off point for a variety of wardrobe staples that will serve you well for years.

Large pockets are the iconic feature of the Clyde. I created the side panel crescent pocket as a solution for bulky and crinkly pocket bags that are often a hallmark of inseam pockets. They are large enough to be truly functional and are just a hair wider than the side body panel for ease of use.

Medium-width shoulder straps and a scooped neckline make this jumpsuit perfectly suitable to wear on its own, or over a thin top or sweater like overalls. In a soft linen, this jumpsuit feels seasonless and relaxed. In a heavier canvas or wool, it's indestructible.

Required Fabric, Tools, & Notions

We recommend medium-weight fabrics with no stretch. Linen, cotton, hemp, in plainweaves or canvas will work well. Lighter weight fabrics will add more drape, and heavier fabrics will result in a more structured garment. Ensure that whatever material you choose can hold up in the pocket area.

You'll need:

-Fabric of your choice--see detailed fabric requirements here.

-All purpose polyester thread

-Sewing machine (capable of a straight stitch)

-Needle

Experience the Joy

of building a garment from scratch

Customers praised this digital sewing pattern for its clear instructions, comfortable fit, and versatile design. "Love the style of these dungarees," said one reviewer. The generous pockets are highly valued. However, sizing runs large—many noted needing to size down or adjust measurements. Some experienced download issues and found the digital format unexpected.

I can’t wait to begin this pattern!

I can’t wait to begin this pattern! I’ve been a fan of Elizabeth Suzann since she was based in Nashville. I had the privilege of going to one of her sales and seeing so many of her items in person. That’s when I fell in love with them. I am a long time sewing, but I know I’ve got so much to learn by using her patterns.

My first ES pattern and the first time sewing up a jumpsuit

My first ES pattern and the first time sewing up a jumpsuit. Loved the look of the side pockets. Made it out of a cotton linen table cloth. Made an XL with some added length in bodice/leg and width in leg (all 1/2"). Raised back opening by an inch. This will be a summer staple!

Perfection in a day.

Just the pattern I was looking for!
It was quick and easy! I made one for my sister out of a hot pink duvet, with blue ribbons!, and one for me from an orange linen curtain, and plaid napkins sewn together! The pattern is so versatile it allows you to mix and match colors and fabrics. But the best part? The pockets!
Clyde for everyone!

Very cute and comfy!

It’s very cute and was fun to make!
It’s quite large through the waist so I think the next time I will size down in the waist and use a drapier fabric.
Thank you for this super cute pattern!

Absolute delight to sew

I make my clothes from recycled’ fabrics, currently old linen tablecloths, usually I sew on my singer treadle 1933 machine but inexplicably the bobbin case has gone missing!
So I am now slow stitching (byhand) my delightful clyde jumpsuit- and even stitching it by hand is so simple, goes together like a jigsaw piece and the instructions simple and mostly clear.

Clyde jumpsuit pattern review

I’d had my eye on this pattern for sometime and I’m so glad I finally brought it. The instructions were clear and super easy to follow. The whole thing was a breeze to make and the finished item is perfect. I made the jumpsuit in a black linen and have been wearing it non stop! I love it so much that I’ve already got some cream linen to make another one! Such a classic item of clothing that’s already a staple in my wardrobe.

I love this pattern!

I am in love with this pattern, and can't wait to make more. It's well-written and thoughtfully constructed, and I've already made 2, plus I grabbed the Clyde Work Pants pattern as well.

Love it!

This pattern was very easy to follow and came together very quickly. I'm 5'6" and made the regular length which was perfect. LOVE the big pockets. Can't wait to wear this all year long!

Lovely pattern

A beautiful pattern to follow. Clear and easy to follow directions. I am 5’11” and used the tall medium pattern. It was a little short in the torso and I will add an inch next time I make it. I found the top part of the pattern a little baggy but it’s nothing a cute belt can’t fix. Thank you for this pattern :)

Nice, unique design

I have sensory issues. That is one reason I sew for myself: I can control seams and materials. The seam running down the knee is bothersome. It is thick and awkward. It rubs me wrong and causes the jumpsuit to pull funny when I move. I made it out of a medium weight linen. I used a serger instead of doing French seams and maybe that is part of the problem. I still give it 5 stars … because pockets! I bought this pattern as an alternative to merging Tina Givens Awbry and Plinka patterns. I’m glad I bought it. It is a unique design that isn’t easily substituted with a cheap pattern. I’ll probably make it again in a lighter linen and do French seams to see if that helps. I’m also quite pears shaped but small framed. The silhouette is suitable for me, but I’d take in the chest area a bit. I thank Elizabeth Suzann for being generous with her designs.

Love my Clyde jumpsuit, but sizing is tricky

I´ve been waiting for this pattern for a long time! Images of the clyde jumpsuit from the sewing community brought me to the brand. I made my first clyde jumpsuit in medium weight denim and I love the result. I squeezed a short S jumpsuit out of 2 meters of 1.5m wide fabric, after playing around with the placement of the different pattern pieces. I´m looking forward to picking out a linen for the next one . After having made the clyde pants, i knew the size that matches my measurements in the size chart would be huge. I am between a medium short and a large short in the size chart, but I knew right away I would make it in a Small Short. It was the right choice, it still is very comfortable once on, even if it takes a little bit of wiggling to get on. I would have been swimming in a medium and the straps would have fallen off my shoulders. Love love love the different length options available.
