The Harper Tunic captures the best elements of my most worn closet staples— an easy, unfussy fit, half sleeves that stay out of the way (or slim, cropped long sleeves if you choose that view), flattering mid-thigh length, and one big pocket to catch all the miscellany I end up with throughout the day.
The cut skims the body loosely making it ideal for layering in the fall and winter. It’s my favorite tunic to wear to the studio—when you’re working, comfort is key, but you still want to look put together. The Harper has an interesting and avant-garde appeal, and it would only be improved by drips and smears of paint or a dusting of flour from the kitchen.
Make this style in various weight fabrics for year-round wear. Our most popular version of this tunic is made in our Midweight Linen, but we also love it in a lightweight gauze or warm, nubby wool for winter. This pattern comes with two variations: a short sleeve option and long sleeve option that's slightly narrower in the body.

The original pattern covered my bum but was too short in the crotch (for my comfort) to be worn with leggings. I added 4 inches on the hem and two on each sleeve, and now it's the only thing I ever want to wear. I'm a busty montessori teacher who wanted a no-nonsense uniform that would allow me to get down on the floor, twist and reach for things without exposing anything. This checks all the boxes AND I can fit whiteboard markers, erasers, keys, and a clip board in that enormous pocket! I love a large print on my fabric and this is the perfect pattern to showcase your Ikea duvets, Spoonflower splurges, and cherished Marimeko yardage. Wearing it with leggings means I can comfortably bike to work. I can't wait to try it in a monochrome linen, heavier fabrics this fall, and play with the long sleeve option. If you're looking for a TNT pattern that can go from day to night, spring to fall, kindergarten classroom to art studio to yoga practice, to date night, and even doubles a nightgown, this one is for you. Defy the male gaze and feel cute while doing it! I am slow, and the whole process takes me 3 hours. Couldn't be happier. 10/10 recommend.
The Harper was basically my second sewing project. It turned out great! I had a few challenges along the way as I am a total beginner , but they were total operator error (I got so excited I went ahead without reading one direction) I am thrilled!!! I can never find cloths that feel like me and I can see how easily I will be able make variations to this pattern.the direction were clear and simple. My biggest problem was calibrating printer to get the right size.
This tunic really is comfortable and easy to sew. I particularly like the look of the tapered sleeves rolled at the cuff. I plan to make several more this fall!
Love working with ES patterns and looking forward to making the Harper Tunic in a slightly weightier cloth next time. I used a lightweight linen first time round.
I have always loved the Harper tunic on the website, but never had the extra money for it. Then the patterns came and I had a piece of plant-died cotton-wool fabric to use for a first try. It turned out very well! Next I will tweak it a little, go a size down in width probably, and use some precious boiled wool for an easy, lightweight second layer. Small caveat: I believe the measurements are wrong in some places, where it says round measurement, the given number can only be flat.
Whipped this sweet staple up in delicious merchant & mills “forager” linen. Wonderful pattern just like all other ES patterns I’ve sewn. So versatile and cute.
This is my first sewing project ever!! I have loads to learn and took notes as I went along on where I’d like to improve. This is a photo of what I’ve got so far, still needed to finish the neck and maybe fix the pocket a little. This was such a fun introduction to sewing, hope to make many many more!

Made this in a lovely sky blue linen. It went together quickly and the finish was wonderful. I do think I will size down next time. I followed the sizing suggestions but it seems overly large.

Easy to sew and came out with derailleur - directions are very clear and easy to follow. So grateful for these patterns
I made the long sleeve version- I sized down to an OSM and made the sleeves a bit wider, which worked for me. An OS would have been huge, if I followed the size chart. The lenght was too long for me, so I ended up shortening the tunic a lot, and making the hem in the back straight rather than curved. I could keep the curved hem in the front but the curved back hem kept puckering up, so I gave up. I decided to do two pockets instead of one, and I´m happy with the result.
This is such a stylish comfortable top and it's so easy to make. I just made the neck a little larger to suit my preference.

A great basic pattern that can be made in various ways. Hope it can be a Tried and True pattern in my catalog.
I love the short sleeved version. Have made one in a soft drapey wool and one from a knit merino as a soft extra layer for the office. As always patterns are clear and easy to sew.
Harper and Georgia patterns extremely approachable and responsiveness of designer on question on IG was pleasant and supportive surprise. Finally found a great pattern for some Liberty fabric that had been sitting in my stash.
I've made the Harper at least 6 times and plan to make even more because it's such a simple but eye-catching and flattering top and it's fun to sew. I love the one asymmetrical pocket. I often straighten the hems on the bottom (a lot easier to sew). Every time I wear one, I get compliments and surprise that it's "home made".
Still haven’t made it but have printed it off. Going to make it in a linen and also in a double cotton gauze.
