Our favorite, essential tee and dress series. The Georgia is one of the first styles I designed, and the pattern was drafted with universal fit in mind. The shoulder seam and sleeve without an armscye look intentional on all shoulder breadths, the substantial cuff wings out and draws clean lines on any arm, and the various length options follow the rule of thirds creating proportions that work on almost every body.

The Georgia is a perfect closet staple. A basic, boxy tee that has a modern, utilitarian feeling while still remaining soft and fluid. This style that can be used a base pattern for endless variations. Make this style in various weight fabrics for year-round wear. Perfectly scooped neckline hits right at the collarbone and doesn’t show bra straps. Substantial cuffs give weight and luxury to the piece but are very straightforward to construct.

This pattern includes all three length options: the Georgia Tee, Georgia Dress, and Georgia Midi.

Required Fabric, Tools, & Notions

We recommend light- to medium-weight fabrics with no stretch will work exceptionally well. Linen, cotton voile, silk crepe, seersucker, tencel, rayon-pretty much anything with some drape will work for this pattern. Lighter weight fabrics will add more drape, and heavier fabrics will result in a more structured garment. You can even try this in a wool or wool blend for a wintry option.

You'll need:

-Fabric of your choice - see detailed fabric requirements here.

-All purpose polyester thread

-Sewing machine (capable of a straight stitch)

-Needle

Experience the Joy

of building a garment from scratch

Customers said this sewing pattern is "fast and easy" with "excellent instructions" that create a "polished, stylish" wardrobe staple. The boxy design features well-drafted sleeves and neckline construction. Some noted the 3/8" seam allowance isn't beginner-friendly, and a few found the fit too boxy or neck opening tight, suggesting sizing adjustments.

A pattern for all skill levels

A pattern for all skill levels. Instructions well thorough, clear, and the photos were straightforward. I especially liked the emphasis on order of operations as I previously didn’t know about as a beginner. The pattern is boxy but versatile. My download took longer than expected, which was weird, and I thought it didn’t go through it took so long. Idk why, but in the end it was fine. I didn’t need any customer service. 10/10. I would buy again.

Cute boxy top!

I’ve long been an admirer of the Georgia series, and I love my final results — I’ve already made two. I love the neckline construction and the cuffs on the sleeves. My one qualm is that 3/8” seam allowance (outside of the neckline) is not really beginner friendly when finishing seams with a serger. I adjusted the seam allowance to 1/2” so that I could safely serge my seams and it worked out well. I understand that 3/8” is less fabric “waste” and perhaps more professional, but for a beginner sewist, it’s not as accessible when also finishing seams.

A little too boxy for me

A little too boxy for me, but I appreciate the simple, yet elegant style. Although not my style, I do know somebody who this would be perfect for in linen! Thanks for helping me make a great handmade Christmas present!

New Sewist - I love it!

A friend who doubles as my style icon told me about Elizabeth Suzann years ago. I recently bought a used sewing machine to learn to sew, and the Georgia pattern is the first I purchased. I made a dress for myself (added pockets), and I made a shirt for my mom. I can’t wait to make many more of these for myself, friends, and family! I love the design, and I was able to understand the instructions as a brand new sewist.

This is a go to pattern

This is a go to pattern. I’ve made two tees since receiving it. The tee is a great shape. The directions were very clear and the illustrations were fantastic! I made the second tee with contrasting sleeves and I love it! I highly recommend this pattern. I’m an experienced sewist, and loved the tip for the curved seam under the arm. I highly recommend the pattern!

Highly recommend

After being away from a sewing machine for decades, this pattern was easy to follow and edit for fit. I used ikat fabric with a soft hand that draped very nicely. I received many compliments on the 2 tops I made.

Brilliant simple pattern that suits me [yay!]

Brilliant simple pattern that suits me [yay!]. The pattern is flexible - i opened up the neck as I have a big head and have the cuffs in a different fabric.
Also I used The Maker's Print Shop in Guelph - fantastic service. 😊

Neck Opening Adjustment Needed

Overall, I love the shirt that I sewed in size OSP3. Next time, I will scoop the neck opening out more- it is much closer to my throat than I was expecting based on the pattern photos.

Enthousiaste !

Bonjour !

The pattern was very cute, but very oversized. It. Looks nice on different bodies, a few women sewed it in my sewing class. I used a size suggested in the pattern based on my measurements , but had to size one down and alter it. I wish the neck binding would show on the outside for a nice contrast. I like the instructions, very clear with illustrations. Make sure printing is set to scale. Seems like a lot of work printing cutting taping when the price of patterns is so high. Maybe I am old fashion, but I prefer already printed patterns.
